Jama Masjid Main Mosque East Gate Muslim Man - Delhi, India - Daily Travel Photos
(Delhi, India)
f/13 || 1/40s || @20mm || ISO200 || Canon 5D || Canon 17-40mm f/4 Embed Code

A Muslim man walks out the east entrance of Delhi's Jama Masjid (Main Mosque).

And thus starts my near-real time posting of India photos on this particular subcontinent junket. It took me a few weeks to begin because neither the morning weather - hazy - nor my health - Delhi belly - were cooperating. Beginning today, I will post recently taken photographs of India. Due to the unknowns of traveling in India, particularly concerning internet and the availability of electricity, I've provided myself a larger than normal buffer in case something happens... in India, something always happens. Weekends (on the Christian calendar, Saturdays & Sundays), I'll provide a break in the hot Indian action to post non-India archived photos.

You've seen this drill when I was in S. Korea, however, the circumstances are entirely different. In India, along with a full travel schedule, I incorporate a developing world's problems into my posting schedule. In Korea, I simply came home and comfortably posted photos on one of the fastest internet connections in the world without a threat of frequent power cuts. Wish me luck!

Jama Masjid Main Mosque East Gate Muslim Pool Reflection Laundry - Delhi, India - Daily Travel Photos
(Delhi, India)
f/11 || 1/50s || @17mm || ISO200 || Canon 5D || Canon 17-40mm f/4 Embed Code

Delhi's Jama Masjid (Main Mosque) reflected in the central foot bath.

I'm not a Muslim nor do I play one on TV but I'm pretty sure you shouldn't be doing laundry in the foot bath. The irony of a foot bath so far away from the prayer hall is the amount of pigeon droppings that glue to the bottom of your feet on the walk to the prayer area.

This photo is comprised of 3 images merged together in Photoshop. The size and elevation of the foot bath prevented anything but a fisheye lens from capturing the full scene and so I improvised. In fact, the result even looks a bit like it was captured with a fisheye lens - the bottom edge is curved when in reality, it should be a straight edge. The most difficult part of taking this photo was waiting for a moment when there weren't dozens of pigeons flying around. In the end, this was near impossible while retaining the morning quality of light so I snapped away and healed out the flying rats in Photoshop.
